The team will aim to manufacture a highly competitive and exceptionally reliable racing car with intentions to strive in the largest competitions. The first year will comprise of knowledge transfer with the goal of manufacturing a running and reliable racing car. For the 2017-2018 season, the prototype will race in the Formula North and Lincoln Formula SAE events. Through the years of integration and development, we will be revolutionising our concept and pushing the limits of performance in order to be one of the only North American electric teams to compete in Europe.

As of September 2017, McGill Formula Electric and the McGill Racing Team will be merging into one single Design Team with the name McGill Formula Electric. Due to advancements in material development and the market evolving towards renewable resources, both teams have elected to combine knowledge and resources to produce a single formula-style, open wheel, electric prototype with a full CFRP monocoque.
